About

Mister Tim is a singer, performer, teacher, composer, conductor and artistic director in a variety of vocal and choral-related fields.  He is the creator of, and artistic director for, more than a dozen award-winning a cappella groups, an accomplished classical and choral vocalist, a published composer and arranger, and a valued educational and music consulting resource.

Mister Tim has performed and toured with a number of professional vocal ensembles and productions. His original vocal projects have collectively won more contemporary a cappella awards than any other contemporary a cappella group <see “Awards” for details>.  His arrangements and compositions have won awards and accolades, and his performances are revered for their quality and innovation.

Mister Tim is the creative force behind the 2010 Harmony Sweepstakes International Champion deconstructionist a cappella trio Plumbers of Rome, comedy a cappella legends and 2003 Harmony Sweepstakes runners-up moosebutter, heavy metal a cappella parody band Placental Armageddon, vocal jazz/world music quintet Vocality, Elvis tribute quartet The King4, college all-star group The 40th Parallel, all-vocal rock bandsTHROAT and VoxBom, and a cappella cover band Wonder Voice. He was also a lead cast member of the Las Vegas cast of Toxic Audio and continues to appear nationally with the touring cast (now called Vox Audio).

Mister Tim’s solo vocal live-looping is a combination of elements gleaned from contemporary a cappella, jazz, pop, rock, music theater, and modern music technology.  As a one-man vocal band, Mister Tim has developed cutting edge entertainment programs for concert halls, theaters, fairs and festivals, and multi-media settings.

Mister Tim has also gained international notoriety for his wildly popular kazoo videos, available (along with many other videos) on youtube.com/MisterTimVids.  Mister Tim is an advocate of the kazoo as an entertainment and educational tool, since the kazoo is, fundamentally, a vocal instrument.

Mister Tim hosts the Contemporary A Cappella Society a cappella originals podcast, produces audio and video for independent artists, and consults and coaches school ensembles, performing groups, and individuals in many performing genres.  Tim has coached award-winning college and high school groups in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Massachussetts, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as having taught classes and workshops to private groups and at the biggest a cappella events in the nation, covering topics from music business to songwriting to vocal percussion and creative staging.

Mister Tim studied for a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Vocal Performance emphasis) from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT.  Mister Tim coaches and workshops groups nationwide in contemporary vocal, choral, performance, arranging, and songwriting methods. He also composes and arranges works for choral ensembles, guest conducts groups and honor choirs, and performs with groups as guest artist.

Mister Tim was awarded the 2008 A Cappella Impact Award for outstanding contribution to the field of Contemporary A Cappella from the Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes.
